Unhindered Education Program

Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı attended a signing ceremony of the Unhindered Education Program which will be carried out with the cooperation of Turkcell. The program aims to improve the special abilities of children with disabilities who need special education and help to integrate them into social life.

Unhindered Education Program

Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı attended the protocol signing ceremony with Turkcell to provide tools and equipment for the classes and workshop for students with hearing, visual impairment and low level mental disabilities.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the Beyoğlu Teacher’s Home Minister Avcı said they are feeling the happiness of starting yet a new positive effort and added “we are taking yet another important step for children with special conditions who need special care and education. We are on the eve of starting an effort to improve their competence.” 

Saying with the protocol signed special and vocational schools will be able to buy the necessary equipment for their workshops Minister Avcı said thus the students will be able to learn more by putting into application what they have learnt and will find areas to apply their experiences.

Minister Avcı went on saying “besides we will set up technology classes at the special educational vocational high schools for students with hearing impairment thus the students with hearing disabilities will be able to make use of the technological advancements that will make life easier for them. In the second stage of the protocol equipment to set up workshops for chemical technology, printing technology, metal technology, ceramics and glass technology, textile, food and agricultural technologies will be provided. At the end of the day the equipment and tool needs of the workshops for 80 schools will be met and an important duty for the students and individuals will be fulfilled.”

Minister Avcı said they find it important that students at the Science and Arts centers will receive software lessons according to the program covered by the protocol. He said he hopes the cooperation with Turkcell will be fruitful and will provide the greatest contribution to training the students. Minister Avcı thanked the Ministry of Education staff and the Turkcell officials who prepared the protocol. “May Allah help you in your endeavors,” Minister Avcı concluded.

Minister Avcı thanked disabled Rukiye Düzgün and her teacher for a mini concert and said “when we listened to Rukiye performing I remembered an anecdote about Beethoven. Beethoven lost all his hearing abilities towards the end of his life and composed the 9th Symphony without hearing anything. In those days he has a remark that touches deep into the hearts; he says “God whispers into everyone’s ear but with me God screamed into my ears.’ It is nice for people to share the good things they hear and see with others. But it is wonderful for people to share the good things with others even when they do not hear those good things. That is why I thank Rukiye and her teacher.”

After the speech the protocol was signed by Ministry of National Education Special Education and Guidance Director General and Turkcell Executive Board Chairman Ahmet Akça.

 

Will reach 10 thousand students

The project named Unhindered Education Program aims to provide training to disabled students and help provide them with qualitative employment.

The budget for the program will be seven million liras and will be carried out in 80 schools and special workshops for vocational training will be set up for students with disabilities. The program will reach out to 10 thousand students in two years.
